We booked to stay through a booking site and had a mixup through no fault of the hotel.. spoke to Jacky who was front of house on reception and she was very very helpful, sorted everything out and took the stress out of our stay.. would highly recommend and thank you Jacky! Very good hotel and will book again.. Sarah and family.
The Copthorne Hotel is right at the hear of a new city centre development. Therefore is can be a tad noisy and its not the pretties of landscapes. A new hotel is being built for 2022 so investment is limited and it is tired. Apart from that, the facilities are clean and the staff all very willing. A good place to stay as it is right in the heart of the city.
Well, after reading all the bad reviews I must admit, I was not expecting much. However, I’m pleased to say it was absolutely fine. I parked underneath the hotel which had plenty of spaces, even though I arrived late in the evening. Yes the bathroom needs updating, but the room itself was clean, the bed was comfy and I was not woken up by either the other residents or by the workmen outside. Admittedly the hotel is currently surrounded by renovation work ongoing in this part of the city, but this won’t be forever and it didn’t bother me in the slightest. I stayed in a club room for two nights and sampled the breakfast only once, which again was more than ample in respect of quality and choice. The purpose of my journey was to attend an event at the University Library which was no more than a three minute walk away. All in all, I enjoyed my stay and would happily stay there again.
Good location and breakfast was ok however Tv didn’t work Toilet didn’t flush and the room was boiling hot! Couldn’t open the window as there was building work going on right in front of the hotel which woke me up at 4.30am Would not stay again. Communal areas clean but hotel needs updating.
The rooms are dated. There are no plug points near the beds. The key cards are unreliable. Room service don’t answer the phone. The tea/coffee in the room is awful. The cabinet marked refrigerator is empty. The staff are surly and unhelpful The parking is dire. 4 Star, my arse!!
