Premier Inn Balsall Common - Near Nec
very tired looking rooms . smelly carpet in room. room basic looking and old fashioned . corridor like some dirty entrance to a scruffy apartment block ...old cheap carpet. basic facilities and terrible Wi-Fi connection. nobody looks smart...own clothes...what happened to the uniform . beefeater is disgusting. .dirty and needs closing for a deep clean ...it's like a dungeoninside . ....not impressed . the photos do not match the actual place.
we travelled to the area for a family funeral, when we enquired upon check in if we could check out a couple of hours later than usual check out time the receptionist did this without any issue and without any charge which was a great relief to us. The next morning we double checked if this was still ok as it was a new receptionist (I didn’t catch her name but believe she was French) was so understanding and accommodating, explained that this was still all fine and that she was sorry for our loss, and then upon checking out again re-iterated this and that she hoped the day would go as well as it could do. It may seem something small but the empathy that she showed was really comforting and she she didn’t have to do this at all. The customer service we experienced was second to none, and this lady in particular should be commended for this.
The Balsall Common Premier Inn offers reliable, good quality food and accommodation enlivened by pleasant, helpful staff and easy access to the NEC. It offers good value for money and it was a pleasure to stay.
We regularly use Premier Inn for family trips around the UK because you know what you're getting, though this one was at the lower end of the scale. Dated buildings and grounds, the breakfast and dinner were disappointing. No major problems to be fair, it did the job but that's about all that can be said for this hotel.
Stayed here for two nights while attending an event at the NEC. Location for the NEC is brilliant. There is a Sainsbury's petrol station and shop right opposite the hotel, which is always handy. The room was pretty much as expected for a Premier Inn, although no shaver point in the bathroom/room to charge our toothbrush! The breakfast was at the nearby Beefeater restaurant and we found this below the usual standard for Premier Inn. The selection of food items was poor, the layout was terrible...with all the food in the same corner as the one toaster...meaning everyone was reaching over each other. There was also no 'Costa Coffee' machine and it was conference style dispensers giving out coffee and luke warm water (which made appalling tea!). We went elsewhere for breakfast on our second morning. I would return to this Premier Inn if I was attending an event as the room was fine and it was quite reasonably priced, but I would eat elsewhere!
