The room had not been updated for a long time, and the painted woodchip looked particularly dirty in places. The room's information folder had had tea spilled into it. The bathroom had a new electric show but the walls were grubby and there was peeled paper exposing what looked like damp, rotten woodwork. The carpet had a large burnt patch. The bed was clean, although the linen seemed well-used. "Continent breakfast" was self-service toast (with a too small toaster that toasted 2/3 of a slice, a choice of 4 cereals and muesli, eggs - for a boiler, and spreads from Lidl. No facilities in room - hairdryer, shampoo, shower gel etc absent. An experienced traveler, I came prepared. No shelf/cupboard near mirror for make-up etc. Not a nice part of Birmingham. Front door next to old bench and ashtray for smokers - not somewhere for a woman travelling alone to feel entirely comfortable.

Due to weather we decided to stay the night before our flight I was worried what it would be like due to the terrible reviews, I was pleasantly surprised the room we had was clean warm and comfortable the only thing I’d change would be the pillows, we didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that if you only want a bed for the night this is an ideal place so close to the airport

Terrible. Springs coming through the mattresses. Very uncomfortable could not use the shower As it was unhygienic. Draft coming through the door. No curtain so everyone can see you in bed. The door lock was very unsecure and didn’t really fir the door at all. The breakfast was self service. Only cereal. But had gone off and was not edible. Do not go to this place. It was the worst place I had ever staid in. Disgusting and cold.

I booked this accommodation because I was competing at Horse of the year show at the nec and wanted to ensure a good nights sleep. Big mistake as Sleep was impossible. Beds like concrete, cold showers, people shouting and stomping around literally all night. Breakfast was inedible.

I required a place for 4 days while I attended the NEC, about an £8 Uber ride away. Everywhere else was further away by far and the closer ones were double or triple the price or more. The reviews were in general 50% terrible but I listened to the others that seemed genuine and I am glad, the owner or manager is genuinely polite as are all the staff, the breakfast is fresh and what it is, a self serve juices, cereal and toast with condiments lol. The rooms are clean but dated and tired, not filthy, the beds comfy It is also a great base for the airport literally next door
