Vicarage Lodge Birmingham
We had a great extended 5-day weekend stay in Vicarage Lodge. The place is easily accessible, very clean and comfortable. There's free parking on the road and parking on the drive. And a direct bus route just down the road to Birmingham or to West Bromwich/Dudley in the opposite direction, or a tram/metro a not too far walk away. At first we stayed in a twin room, there were plenty of shower, toilet and kitchen facilities, and the room was just what we needed. If anything there was just a slight issue with noise on the Friday and Saturday night, people wearing shoes, particularly high heels was an aggravance but nothing too major. And then they so kindly upgraded us for free to an en-suite room due to a cancellation. Me and my friend from France really did feel at home and I'll definitely be staying again when I'm next in Birmingham.
I stayed here last year and I was very happy with your stay I'd happily stay here again the only drawback is the road parking, but everything else for me was great, the room was immaculate comfortable and affordable in a good location, I would happily stay here again.
The place wasn’t a bad place to stay caters for your needs, you get what you pay for the only thing that let this establishment is the taxi they ordered for me who said he was part of the family business who owns the lodge, he ended up charging me £11 to travel 4.6 miles on a Wednesday at around 8pm he didn’t even have a meter. When we got a local taxi from where we travelled to back at around 11pm the guy charged us £8.70 I told him to keep the change. It’s not the fact that he only over charged £2.30 it’s the principal he should be looking after the people if the lodge especially if it’s a family run business. Other than that I had no issues with the actual establishment the guy who opened the door to us was very friendly and polite, in fact the guy that opened the door also said it’s around £7 🤷🏽♂️ he wasn’t completely sure as I don’t think he gets taxis himself. All I’ve got to say about this place is the room and service we got was worth the money we paid, just don’t let them call you a taxi. Book one yourself from a local firm not gonna mention any company’s as you can do your own research. I just went for the one with the best rating.
Greet by the most kindest man in the reception.. Mateen I think was his name... With a personal touch every step of the way. The room was extremely clean as was the rest of the lodge and Mateen couldn't have gone out of his way any more than he did.... Very well placed for Birmingham city centre. I cannot recommend this place more highly. You will not be disappointed.
Horrible experience. Unclean. Cold room. Wasn’t advised about ongoing work in the lodge. As a result the en-suite was closed. As was one of the 2 toilets on my floor. That resulted in waiting for a long time for my turn to use the toilet causing unavoidable delay in getting to the conference I was attending, in time. Very noisy. Guests made noice until Early hours of the day. No one at reception to report it and bring a stop to it. Awful parking. Only 2 spaces. Overall. A place that should and must not be let out until they have resolved all the lodging issues.
